19 March 2006 Seven islands off the Arabian Sea form one teeming,
thumping, tumbledown city called Mumbai. Everything about it is extreme: noise levels, pollution-rich air,
India's busiest airport, Asia's largest slums, the world's most prolific film industry, and one of the
world's largest stock exchanges. To visitors so used to Western ways of
organization, Mumbai
makes little sense. And that is why the city is charmingly giddy and
indubitably fun.
